Dedication
To my kids—This is for you.
I wanted you to have a place where you could truly know me. Not just the highlights or the labels, but me: my thoughts, my heart, my humor, my love for music, and the way I experienced this world. If you ever miss me, I hope you find me here—in these words, these stories, and the music that always guided me.
And to the musicians who have touched my soul—Thank you for giving my life a soundtrack. For the songs that held me together, lifted me up, and helped me survive moments I didn’t think I could. You shaped my memories more than you’ll ever know.
Harmony Heartbeat by Mickey didn’t begin as a brand or a plan. It began as a love letter.
I started my blog for my kids—so they would always have something to read, something that lets them truly know me long after I’m gone. I wanted them to understand who I was beyond photos and stories told by others. I wanted them to know what moved me. What made me laugh. What gave me strength on hard days.
Music has always been at the center of that story.
I write about growing up—where I came from, the house I was raised in, the people who shaped me. I write about my parents, the love they gave, the lessons they taught, and the ways they influenced the person I became. I write honestly, because real stories matter.
I also write about loss—because loss changes you. It reshapes how you see the world, how deeply you feel, and how much you cling to the things that bring comfort. For me, music was often that comfort. Songs became lifelines. Lyrics said what I couldn’t. Music carried me through grief, healing, and growth.
I fell in love with music early. It became my escape, my companion, my joy, and sometimes my survival. Concerts felt like sacred spaces—places where everything made sense for a few hours. Music didn’t just play in the background of my life; it helped shape who I am.
As I kept writing, I realized something unexpected—these words weren’t only for my kids anymore. They resonated with others who felt the same pull toward music, memory, and meaning. People who understood how songs attach themselves to moments and how stories deserve to be told honestly.
That’s when Harmony Heartbeat grew beyond the blog and into something new.
From Blog to Podcast
The Harmony Heartbeat podcast is an extension of those written memories. Same heart. Same honesty. Just spoken instead of typed.
It’s a place for real conversations about music, concerts, everyday life, and whatever else shows up in the moment. Some episodes will be light and funny. Others reflective or emotional. All of them will be real.
The podcast also captures something writing alone can’t—my voice, my laughter, my reactions. Things my kids might one day miss the most. It’s another way for them to hear me, feel close, and understand who I was beyond just “mom.”
Music weaves through all of it. From unforgettable concerts to moments that felt surreal—like meeting Bret Michaels or having a meaningful one-on-one conversation with Alex Skolnick—these experiences shaped me, and they’re stories I want to pass on.
Why Independent Uprising Exists
Alongside the blog and podcast is Independent Uprising, which comes from that same place of purpose.
Independent Uprising exists to support independent artists—the ones creating from the heart without major backing. The ones taking risks, staying true to themselves, loading their own gear, booking their own shows, and showing up even when it’s hard.
I believe deeply in those voices.
My long-term vision is to grow Independent Uprising into a booking agency dedicated exclusively to independent artists, creating opportunities while honoring their independence, creativity, and authenticity.
In many ways, Independent Uprising is also part of the legacy I want to leave my kids: a reminder that believing in others, lifting people up, and staying true to yourself matters.
A Legacy of Heart and Sound
Harmony Heartbeat—whether through the blog or the podcast—is about connection, memory, and truth. Independent Uprising is about action, support, and community.
Together, they tell the story of who I am and what I believe in.
Most of all, this is for my kids.
So one day, if you’re reading this, I hope you hear my voice in these words. I hope you feel how deeply you were loved. And I hope you see that your mom lived with heart, honesty, and a whole lot of music.
This is my story. And I’m still writing it. 🎶❤️
Peace, Love and Loud Music,
Mickey
