I can hardly sit still writing this—because my summer is about to be loud, wild, and unforgettable.
I was supposed to be heading to Vans Warped Tour in Washington, D.C. this weekend too, but with the political climate being what it is, I made the tough decision to sell my tickets. Sometimes choosing peace of mind has to come first—but that doesn’t make it any less bittersweet.
The end of June kicks things off with Cheap Trick at the National Cherry Festival, and there’s just something so nostalgic and electric about seeing legends like them in a festival setting right in Michigan.
July kicks off with a show that hits deep: Pantera. The last time I saw them was 31 years ago at the very same venue—Pine Knob—with my ex-husband Jason. We even got to meet the band at a Harmony House meet-and-greet (I think it was Madison Heights or Sterling Heights). I stood face to face with Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, legends who forever changed the metal world—and now, are no longer with us. Neither is Jason.
So this show? This one is a celebration of life. I’ll be there with friends, honoring Jason and the Abbott brothers with every riff, every scream, and every memory. This is more than a concert. It’s full circle.
And I don’t even have time to catch my breath before the next day—Def Leppard takes the stage. Teenage me is already fangirling because I had the biggest crush on Joe Elliott. That show’s going to transport me right back to the days of mixtapes, posters on the wall, and blasting “Hysteria” on repeat.
A week later? Shinedown and Bush. And let me tell you—Shinedown is personal. Their music helped carry me through some of my darkest days… when I lost my mom, when I lost my beloved pug, and during the lowest points of my depression. I already know I’ll be crying and singing every word, and I’m okay with that. That’s the healing power of music.
Then we roll into August…
I’ll be catching Creed on their long-awaited return to the stage, and attending the Rock 4 Vets Music Festival, which supports a great cause. And maybe most special of all—I’ll be making more memories with three of my adult children as we continue our tradition of seeing the Jonas Brothers together. Laughing, singing, and just being in that moment with them is something I treasure more and more.
And this journey doesn’t stop there—September brings more music, including Breaking Benjamin, a band whose music has echoed through some of the rawest parts of my soul. I can already feel that show being another one that stirs every emotion in the best way.
But along with all this concert magic, something brand new and deeply personal is beginning…
I’m finally getting to live what I love again: music, concerts, and sharing the journey with all of you.
And here’s the part that makes it even more real:
🎙️ I’m launching my podcast — Harmony Heartbeat by Mickey — and my very first episode features my guitar hero, Mr. Alex Skolnick. (Yes, that Alex Skolnick!) 🤘
We’re not just talking music—we’re diving into life, resilience, and all the unpredictable stuff that gets thrown at us in between. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s straight from the heart.
This isn’t just about going to concerts—it’s about rediscovering my passion, chasing joy, and creating something meaningful. Whether you’re a fellow music lover, a dreamer, or just someone trying to hold it all together, you’re invited to come along for the ride.
Get ready to laugh, cry, headbang, and heal—because this journey is just getting started. 💜🎶
Peace, Love and Music,
Mickey
